CORN SILK
(Zea mays)
      

Cornsilk

Part used: Leaves
What it affects: kidneys, bladder and prostate.

Preparation and amount
Infusion: steep 5-15 min. and take 3 oz. as needed.
Tincture: take 5-20 drops 3x a day
Fluid extract: take 1/4- 1/2 tsp 3x a day
Powder: take 1-5 #0 capsules (5-30 grains) 3x a a day

Purposes:
Corn silk contains proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, Ca, K, Mg and Na salts, fixed and volatile oils, steroids such as sitosterol and stigmasterol, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. Base on folk remedies, corn silk has been used as an oral antidiabetic agent in China for decades.
